Women’s self-defense: Krav Maga training in Berlin

Women's Self-Defense Training | Self-Defense Training For Women

Practicing women self-defense training with Krav Maga in Berlin

A specific section of IKMF Krav Maga self-defense training is designed especially for women. In fact, it is disturbing to know that every woman will be sexually harassed and/ or attacked at least once in their life.

I have been teaching women seminars and courses, in different countries with women from different backgrounds. After the seminar group defined together what sexual harassment is, I asked the women in the room to raise the hand, if they were sexually harassed in the past. It was every time heartbreaking to see that all the hands got raised.

There are many women thinking that defending themselves, resisting, and counter-attack in a dangerous situation, will only cause the attacker to be more violent and more aggressive. This is luckily incorrect.

Women can learn and should learn how to defend themselves. So they have the option to do so if needed. It is in any case better to have the tools and not actually need to use them, instead of needing them and not having them.

IKMF Krav Maga: Self defense techniques designed for women

The women’s self-defense program of the IKMF (International Krav Maga Federation) has been taught since 1997 and is constantly being developed, using feedback from all around the world. It contains special techniques that are tailored to the physical requirements of women and can be learned quickly, regardless of size, weight, or strength.

Complicated techniques do not work under a high-stress situation such as an attack on the street. Techniques of Krav Maga are focused on responding to sexual and violent assaults. They are very simple, effective, and quick to learn. Training self-defense techniques as a woman will allow you to protect yourself, build self-confidence, and feel safer.

Over 85,000 women in more than 85 countries have already taken part in our IKMF seminars and courses. The success, especially in prevention work, proves how effective the program is.

Much more than self-defense training

The goal of learning specific women’s self-defense techniques is to prepare you physically and psychologically for sexual assaults, and any other kind of attacks.

One of the main psychologic issues of a new situation to deal with is not knowing how to handle it right, and to freeze. It is a natural and common reaction to a sexual assault or attack. Frozen and not being able to move will become a huge handicap in order to deal with the attack.

To overcome it, you should be familiar with the attack, the scenario, and the solution to it.

This is one of the main goals in learning women’s self-defense; you will get to be confronted, in a safe place, during the training to those scenarios. This will help you to be able not to freeze in case of an attack happening to you (hopefully never), and will be able to react, defend yourself and escape safely.

Another subject is how to recognize when to use violence. It is part of the Krav Maga training to define the limit when you should use violence to defend yourself. Training Krav Maga will help you to define danger, and to be aware of a golden rule: If you feel in danger, you are in danger!

Learning Krav Maga technics, from prevention to the actual defenses techniques, and the behavior will make you able to know how to defend yourself, feel strong, self-confident and aware of your surroundings, ready for anything, as Imi (creator of Krav Maga and IKMF) said: “So that one may walk in peace”.
